The Journey So Far...

Updated: Aug 7, 2020

Somehow it’s August already, we’re 3 weeks into having officially launched, 6 weeks since we started building the website, and 9 weeks since we came up with the idea. To say we’re immensely proud of how this has all shaped together would be an understatement. We still have to pinch ourselves that this is actually our business, our dreams became a reality, and we’ve been overwhelmed with the support so far. Thank you to everyone who’s helped along the way.

We thought we would start with a little more insight into us, and where it all began.

Amy and I were at school together in Dorset, we were constantly talking about food, hosting dinner parties, cooking, experimenting. 18 years since we first met we realised that we were both still immersed in the world of cooking, but also that we shared a true passion for buying from and supporting local businesses as well as the desire to work as sustainably as we can. Fortunately we live in Lymington, in The New Forest where we are lucky to have some of the finest ingredients from land and sea right on our doorstep. We wanted to share this love with all those visiting our uniquely special corner of England, so we put our heads together and came up with ‘The Forest Foodie.’

We partnered with some brilliant local suppliers and hunted down some local wines. One of the ‘toughest’ things we had to do was buy it all, photograph it all and then eat it all. Thank you to all of our suppliers - we’re so happy you’re on board with what we’re doing.

Our journey so far has been hectic, fun, scary, daunting, but incredibly exciting. We have been meeting prospective clients on boats, yacht charter companies, delivering tasters to holiday cottage companies for them to offer our hampers to their guests, not forgetting our constant chattering away about it at The Haven with friends over a vino. We’ve been delivering our hampers to locals, and to holiday makers already, and have got our first two dinner parties booked in - where we’ve been tasked at cooking up a storm for them. We didn’t stop there; we've also excitedly booked to have a stand at a local dog themed New Forest Festival ‘Dogstival’ in Burley in September in the hope to meet lots of hungry visitors.

Here’s a couple of piccies, so you can see our faces. We’re small, nimble so if you have something specific in mind let us know and chances are we can help. Thanks for following our journey and we hope you can try our goodies soon.
