The Best Picnic Spots On the Solent For 2025

Hello! We often get asked for our 'BEST' picnic spots when heading out on the water. Here are our top spots:

1) Newtown Creek - stunning, sheltered, calm. You can take a paddle board or a tender to shore. Watch out for the seals! (Also watch out that you don't get caught at low tide!)

We were invited out by James who runs Secret Service Charters to trial their stunning new boat, 'M'. This is me (Flora) at Newtown Creek

2) Hurst Spit - overlooking the famous Hurst Castle. This makes for a beautiful spot, mostly only accessed by boat as it's a jolly long walk otherwise. You can anchor either side of the spit depending on the wind direction - so there's always a nice sheltered spot.

3) Colwell Bay - probably more well known for being the home of 'The Hut' restaurant, however this is a glorious sandy beach spot just to the east of the Hut. It's shallow, crystal clear waters, and so quiet even on the hottest of days in the Summer!

4) Totland Bay - one bay over from Colwell - again a stunning spot with great swimming with Mediterranean like waters.

5) Allum Bay - a stunningly dramatic picnic spot near the Needles where you can anchor pretty close to the cliffs which are well known for their multi-coloured sand cliffs.

Now all you need is a picnic to accompany....

We can deliver to Berthon, Lymington Yacht Haven, the Harbourmasters pontoon in Lymington, RLymYC, LTSC and Lymington Town Quay to meet you with your lunch (or supper!) which will be contained in a fully insulated hamper keeping everything cool without taking up valuable (wine) fridge space onboard.
